Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA) was the first wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the first person to believe in Islam, and one of the greatest women in all of history.

Eventually, Khadijah (RA) proposed marriage to him, and they got married.

• Khadijah (RA) was older than him

• and sincerity.

4. Why Their Marriage Was So Special

Khadijah gave the Prophet ﷺ:

• and complete loyalty.

And the Prophet ﷺ gave her:

• faithfulness,

One of the most important moments in Islamic history is when the Prophet ﷺ received the first revelation in the cave of Hira.

When Jibreel (Gabriel) came to him, the Prophet ﷺ was overwhelmed and frightened. He returned home trembling and said:

“Cover me, cover me.”

Khadijah (RA).

She did not panic.

She did not doubt him.

Even though the Prophet ﷺ later married other wives for many wise reasons, Khadijah (RA) had a unique place that no one could replace.

A famous example of this is the jealousy that some wives felt when the Prophet ﷺ mentioned Khadijah often — even though Khadijah had already passed away. This shows how much he continued to love and remember her.

His loyalty to her was extraordinary.

10. Why She Is Called “Our First Mother”

The wives of the Prophet ﷺ are called the Mothers of the Believers.

Khadijah (RA) is our first mother because:

Also, she was the mother of the Prophet’s children, including Fatimah (RA), who became one of the greatest women in Islam.

No one accepted Islam before her.

At the beginning of revelation, she gave him everything he needed.

C. She was given glad tidings of Paradise

Jibreel عليه السلام came with greetings of salam from Allah to Khadijah (RA), along with glad tidings of a house in Paradise made of pearls or hollowed pearls, with no noise and no hardship.

This is an incredible honor.

Allah sent salam to Khadijah (RA).

This alone shows how elevated she is.

D. She was among the greatest women ever

She is counted among the greatest women in human history, alongside women like Maryam (Mary), Asiyah, and Fatimah رضي الله عنهن.
